Program Information

What is VMware Sales Rewards?

Sales Rewards is an exclusive program designed to reward accredited sales Professionals within the VMware Solution Provider community. The program offers rewards for sales of eligible VMware products and for taking part in various earning activities.

As a member of Sales Rewards you will accrue points, which can then be redeemed for rewards chosen by you! And with Sales Rewards there is never a cost to you, not even shipping and handling!

Who can join VMware Sales Rewards?

There are two requirements for eligibility in VMware Sales Rewards:

1. To join Sales Rewards your company’s Primary Contact must accept the program Terms and Conditions to allow your company to participate. You can send an email to your company’s Primary Contact to remind him/her to accept the program Terms and Conditions.

2. To participate in Sales Rewards you must have your VSP, VSTP, or VCP certification, version 4 or higher. Accredited sales staff must be working within an authorized Solution Provider: Professional, Enterprise, or Premier level VMware partner company in Asia Pacific, North America, or Latin America.

I accepted Terms and Conditions on behalf of my company. Why can’t I earn points?

Primary Contacts from eligible partners are asked to accept the program Terms and Conditions on behalf of the company. To participate in Sales Rewards as an individual and earn points you must have your VSP, VSTP, or VCP certification, version 4 or higher.

Even if you are not eligible to earn points, Primary Contacts can track company participation using the reports available on the Sales Rewards site. These reports are available only to your company’s Primary Contact.

What are the benefits of joining VMware Sales Rewards?

The Sales Rewards catalog includes a wide variety of rewards including gift cards, travel vouchers, and merchandise! By taking part in earning activities you will receive reward points, which can then be redeemed from our catalog for the item of your choice.

Rewards are subject to availability and vary by country.

How can I view my account activity and point balance?

Your Account Summary displays your point balance. Earned points are credited to your account and redeemed points are deducted from your account automatically.

How do I update my contact information?

Please log into VMware Partner Central to update your contact information.

When redeeming a reward you will have the option to ship to an alternate address. Please note that rewards must be delivered to an address within the country identified on your VMware Partner Account.

How do I contact the VMware Sales Rewards support team?

Please feel free to contact the Sales Rewards support team at any time through the Contact Us section of the site. At this time the Sales Rewards support team offers assistance in English only.

When contacting us about a redemption, please have your order number available. The order number is found in your Detailed Account Statement and the confirmation email you received when placing your order.

If you need support in a language other than English, please contact the VMware Partner Support Center at PartnerNetwork@vmware.com. The VMware Partner Support Center currently offers assistance in the following languages: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Chinese, and Japanese.

When should I expect a response from customer support?

Most support inquiries are answered within 24 hours, but depending on your specific question it may take up to 72 hours for us to respond.

Earning Reward Points

What are reward points?

Reward points are awarded for earning activities and are redeemable for rewards from the Rewards Catalog.

How do I earn reward points?

Points are accumulated through VMware sales and other earning activities.

What are reward codes?

Reward codes are unique 16-digit codes that carry a point value. Enter any reward code you receive on the Sales Rewards website to earn instant points.

Keep an eye out for reward codes in emails, newsletters, or at VMware events.

What is the VMware knowledge question?

The VMware knowledge question is posted on the Sales Rewards homepage. You will earn points for answering the question correctly. Be sure to visit Sales Rewards frequently to answer each new question!

SPIFFs

What are SPIFFs?

SPIFFs are sales promotions that give you the opportunity to earn extra incentives. VMware sales to new customers can earn a New Customer SPIFF, while orders that include an eligible SKU can earn a Product SPIFF.

SPIFFs are run on a promotional basis, so check the SPIFFs page to see which SKUs are eligible each quarter. The number of points earned depends on the VMware platform or SKU sold.

Save VMware Sales Orders for SPIFF eligible sales closed during the promotion period and register the order information on the Sales Rewards website to collect your SPIFF! Please be sure to use the VMware Order Number found in the VMware license activation email when registering your sale. Sales will be validated by VMware and reward points will be credited to your account for approved sales.

How do I know if my order is eligible for a New Customer SPIFF?

Your sale must meet the following qualifications to be eligible for a New Customer SPIFF:

  • The end customer must be a new customer to VMware.
  • Only eligible platforms can be registered for a New Customer SPIFF. Visit the SPIFFs page to view eligible platforms and SKUs.
  • The order must be dated within the promotion period.
  • The order must be registered online with Sales Rewards by the registration deadline. After the registration deadline, New Customer SPIFFs cannot be registered.

How does VMware define a New Customer for the New Customer SPIFF?

A new customer is defined as a unique customer organization to VMware (according to our sales database) that has not purchased VMware software licenses in the past four years. Customer sites can qualify as a new customer if a unique postal code is identified on the order. Customers who have only purchased VMware Workstation or Fusion licenses, or who have downloaded free software from the VMware website are considered a new customer to VMware.

Why does my New Customer SPIFF have a quantity of one?

Orders registered for a New Customer SPIFF always have a quantity of one. Reward points are issued at the order level for New Customer SPIFFs and so the quantity of one means one VMware order.

When you register an order for a New Customer SPIFF quantity will be set to one automatically.

How do I know if my order is eligible for a Product SPIFF?

Your sale must meet the following qualifications to be eligible for a Product SPIFF:

  • Only eligible SKUs can be registered for a Product SPIFF. Visit the SPIFFs page to view eligible SKUs.
  • The order must be dated within the promotion period.
  • The order must be registered online with Sales Rewards by the registration deadline. After the registration deadline, Product SPIFFs cannot be registered.
What does the SPIFF status mean?

The SPIFF Status page allows you to review the status of orders you have registered for a SPIFF.

Orders in status Pending have not yet been validated. It may take up to one month for sales to be validated.

Orders that are Approved have been validated and awarded with points.

Rejected orders have been rejected and will not earn points. Check the Comments column on the SPIFF Status page to see why your order was rejected. SPIFFs are often rejected because the order number provided is not a valid VMware Sales Order ID. Please be sure to use the VMware Sales Order ID found in the VMware license activation email when registering a SPIFF.

Is there a maximum amount of points that I can earn?

Starting on April 1, 2013; there is a maximum limit for the amount of points a Sales Rewards participant can earn on a Sales Rewards order. A maximum of 250,000 points can be awarded for each approved SKU per unique VMware Order number.

Are Enterprise License Agreement (ELA) orders eligible for Sales Rewards?

Starting on April 1, 2013; Enterprise License Agreement (ELA) orders are not eligible for Sales Rewards SPIFFs.

Advantage+ Sales

How do I get points for my advantage+ sales?

Sales closed through advantage+ will be loaded to your Sales Rewards account. Simply visit Sales Rewards to confirm your sales and earn points instantly!

You must confirm your advantage+ sales on the Sales Rewards site before the end of the following quarter to earn points.

What is presales support?

You may be asked if you received support on your sale. If you received technical support from a colleague, please select the name of the VCP Professional who provided presales support. If you cannot find the name of the VCP Professional who provided support, or if you did not receive presales support, please select “No presales support” from the dropdown list.

Are all VMware sales eligible for points?

Only VMware sales that are registered and closed in advantage+ by your company are eligible for advantage+ points.

Advantage+ sales are assigned based on the email address listed as the Primary Sales Contact Email on the advantage+ registration form. If no Primary Sales Contact Email is listed the sale is assigned to the user who submitted the registration.

And remember, you must confirm your advantage+ sales on the Sales Rewards site before the end of the following quarter to earn points.

Why isn’t my advantage+ sale listed in Sales Rewards?

If you cannot find your ORAN on the Advantage+ Sales page, please review the following:

Close date
If your opportunity was recently closed it may not be available in Sales Rewards yet. Please allow one to two weeks for closed advantage+ sales to show in Sales Rewards.

You must be registered in Sales Rewards in order to earn points for sales. Sales closed before you registered in Sales Rewards are not eligible.

If your sale was closed prior to the last quarter it may have expired and no longer be available in Sales Rewards. Unclaimed sales will be removed at the end of the following quarter and are not eligible for Sales Rewards.

Influence claim
If the sale was an influence claim through advantage+ it is not eligible for Sales Rewards.

ORAN status
Sales must be closed through the advantage+ program to be eligible for reward points. Please log into Partner Central to ensure that the ORAN status is “closed” in advantage+.

Email address in advantage+ registration
Advantage+ sales are assigned based on the email address listed as the Primary Sales Contact Email on the advantage+ registration form. If no Primary Sales Contact Email is listed the sale is assigned to the user who submitted the registration.

Reward Catalog

What rewards can I earn?

The Sales Rewards catalog features a large selection of items including gift cards, exclusive travel vouchers, and top-of-the-line merchandise such as digital cameras, televisions, sporting equipment, and watches!

Rewards are subject to availability and vary by country.

When can I redeem my points?

You can redeem your reward points at any time in our online catalog.

Visit the catalog to search by department, point range, or keyword. Add items to your wish list to save them for a future order or move them to your shopping cart and checkout immediately.

Do reward points expire?

Yes, reward points will expire at the end of the following year, so points earned in 2012 will expire at the end of 2013.

Please check your Account Summary to view point expiration dates and redeem your points in the Sales Rewards catalog before the expiration date.

Do I have to pay shipping and handling costs for my order?

No, you will never pay shipping or handling costs for your Sales Rewards orders. With Sales Rewards there is never a cost to you!

How long will it take to receive my order?

Delivery times vary depending on the item(s) ordered and the delivery location. Items in stock are generally received within two to four weeks; however delivery may take up to six weeks.

If you have not received your order within six weeks, please Contact Us for assistance. Be sure to include your order number, which can be found in your Detailed Account Statement.

What should I do if I have a problem with my reward?

If you experience any problems with your reward, please Contact Us. Report your problem in detail and our customer support team will be glad to assist you.

Can I transfer points to another Sales Rewards account?

No, you cannot transfer points to another Sales Rewards account. Each user can only receive points for activities performed on a specific Sales Rewards account.
